"I stayed at the Inn on Folsom for nine days for the GDC conference with a friend. It was a really great experience. It was one of the cleanest inns I've ever been to, and was kept tidy and well maintained. There was coffee 24/7 at the lobby as well as yogurt for snacks. There are no private bathrooms, but there is a sink and mirror in each of rooms. There is a toilet and three showers on each of the two floors, and so I never had to wait to use the loo. It also felt very safe because you'd need to use your room card to enter the inn.
Location-wise, Folsom street is in the heart of SoMa has a bunch of yummy cafes, eateries and bars. While it's not in the midst of downtown, it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest MUNI and BART station.
One thing to note that it's located on top of the Cat Club bar. This makes it a bit noisy for those who are light sleepers, especially during weekends. I never minded it though. When it comes down to it, you could always request a room on the second floor (farther up from the club)
Ben, the manager was great and the staff was really friendly. I'd go there again!"
Citizen's band on the corner of Folsom and 8th has really good food!
